Reporting and More for 2012 Season
A note from JP and other contributing media partners

The media team at Flamboro Speedway continues to grow as new partnerships and web based opportunities lead us into the next chapter of our rich racing history.  Last season former race promoter turned media icon Smokin' Joe Chisholm made Hamilton's asphalt arena a focus for the Race Time Radio program featured on Sirius satellite radio and webcast weekly.  Joe is back again with the RTR team with plans to get even more in depth coverage of the events and continues to take Flamboro competitors to an international audience.  Randy Spencer is the resident historian of Flamboro Speedway with one of the larger collections of Ontario racing memorabilia and archive collections.  Adding to his own efforts compiling Ontario Stock Car Racing History, Randy writes columns and features for the Ontario Oval web-based racing news magazine including coverage of events at Flamboro Speedway.  Larissa Spencer has joined her father on the roster of Ontario Oval authors, providing spot light to next generation racers in the Fast Futures feature.  Dave Franks Photos has been a cornerstone of racing media in Ontario for over three decades and 'Flash Franks' returns again as the official photographer of Flamboro Speedway.  Speedway commentator JP will share his thoughts mid-race and mid-week via twitter, @JPFlamboro, and also maintains the speedway website.  Two new web features also make their debut.  Under consistent improvement are updated Driver Profiles, including past performers recognized as Flamboro Alumni; and following the celebration of Flamboro's 50th anniversary we present virtual year books under the Flamboro Archives.

Watch for other Flamboro Speedway related coverage from other media partners including Inside Track News, the Flamborough Review and TVCogeco.

Redneck Racing Showdown Events Cancelled, For Now...
A note from JP and Flamboro Speedway - May 14, 2012  8:30pm

Twelve hours ago Flamboro Speedway promoter John Casale started the week with a disappointing announcement, sharing the decision to cancel the Sunday long weekend special events, the Redneck Racing Showdown.  It was a heavy decision that the co-owner and promoter had been weighing since the end of Saturday night's open wheel event.  "We had such great feedback from the open wheel tours on the condition of the racetrack.  The outside groove provided some of the best racing we've seen from the Can-Am TQ Midgets and Hurricane Midgets.  While the fun and thrills of the Redneck racing program are still promising, we can't risk the potential damage to the racing surface caused by these off-beat events.  For the safety of our regular season, and the drivers who have paid memberships to compete weekly, we have decided to postpone the events indefinitely."

The Redneck Racing Showdown was to showcase circus-like motorsport entertainment including a Figure-8 Demolition Derby, Junk Yard Duels, and Boat Racing, in addition to a grassroots invitational event for regular divisions like the FWD Pure Stocks, Mini Stocks and on the Canada Day weekend the Thunder Cars.  The scheduled event in it's entirety has been removed from the event schedule.

"We will re-visit the opportunity to run this event later in the year.  There is room at the end of the season, weather permitting, to consider adding the Redneck Showdown program either as a standalone spectacle or in addition to the annual Frost Fest format."

For more information please contact co-promoter John Casale at the speedway office, 905-659-3042.

Albers Leads Hamilton Fans To Victory Lane
A note from JP and Flamboro Speedway - May 7, 2012  6:00pm

Flamboro Speedway welcomed race fans from across the greater Hamilton region to the first of four Community Night events this summer.  Fans from qualified Hamilton communities received special 2-for-1 admission to come out and cheer on their hometown heroes.  The night started alright for Hamilton race teams, with back to back victories for Ray's Towing teams #88 Scott Laporte and #73 Nick Troback in Thunder Car qualifying, both drivers from Hamilton.  But the night got tougher for the hometown crowd when we reached Main Event time.

#37 Rob Hoskins the 'Hero of Harley' scored one for team Brant when he maneuvered by #86 Billy Schwartzenburg and #31 Dave Bailey on a late restart to snatch the lead and the checker flag.  The Ponderosa Resort Mini Stock main event was a furious battle for position, and featured one sickening crash of collision when a four-wide exit from turn four smashed the right side of Ken Stenhouse's #5 into the concrete of the front stretch wall.  Lucky #13 Mike Holmes had another strong night and finished just shy of the top three in the feature race, after claiming a win in his heat race.  Russ Aicken is also back in top form in the #71 machine, and past champion Scott Mast appears to be brushing off the race-rust as the #75 team start to creep up the standings.

Kevin Albers #27 was the hometown hero for fans from Rockton, blowing the doors off the Ray's Towing Thunder Car competition on route to his second consecutive race win.  In victory lane Albers attributed much of his success to lucky breaks in the traffic that allowed him to move forward when others were held up.  Top pursuers included #73 Nick Troback and #13 Brad Collison.

The Shadow found spotlight in victory lane, when Brad Corcoran managed to hold off the advance of Boucher & Jones driver #44 Steve Laking in the Grisdale late Model main event.  Laking was the strongest looking car in the field, but his refusal to try the outside lane around Corcoran held him to a runner up finish.  A fantastic duel for the lead, at one point contact between the two cost Laking 2 full car lengths, and put #56 Jeff Stewart into the mix.  But within three laps the Kubota car was back to a solid third and Laking reclaimed his space on the back of Corcoran's bumper.  Brennan Didero and Chris Bochsler made their 2012 season debut, and both drivers had solid top ten finishes.  Dale Shaw had a rough second night in his rookie season, breaking a gear in qualifying.  The #83 team rushed to Guelph for a replacement, returned to the speedway and made the change in time to take the green flag.

MONDAY NIGHT GOLD RUSH!  $10,000 CHALLENGE
A note from JP and Flamboro Speedway - April 2, 2012  8:00pm - Announced LIVE on RaceTimeRadio

When it comes to racing, promotions and special events, most look to NASCAR as the international leader for direction.  So if Monday night can work in Daytona, then why not in Hamilton?

Flamboro Speedway is excited to announce a new addition to the annual stock car racing event schedule, the MONDAY NIGHT GOLD RUSH.  The end game is a $10,000 reward after 100 laps of grueling competition inside the asphalt arena, but the stakes are high in this racing challenge.

The night to mark on your calendar is Monday August 20th, with a 7pm start for qualifying and an expected 8:15pm green flag for the main event.  It’s an open Late Model event, where the Flamboro Speedway rule book will set the base standard for the premier competitors across the province and the northern border states.  There are no racing points to be earned, no championships to consider.  It’s an all or nothing one-night event to race for the trophy, the glory, and the money.  Read More

Supporting Businesses Who Support Grassroots Stock Car Racing
A note from Flamboro Speedway management

Sponsorship has been a driving force of motorsport for decades.  From the beaches of Daytona, through the mountains of Appalachia, and across the Great Lakes into southern Ontario, it is with business investment and support that stock car racing has grown into one of the largest and most popular North American pastimes.  Sponsors help speedways to make facility improvements, provide prizes and incentives for race teams and promote race shows to eager fans and customers alike.  Sponsors help race cars get built, race teams get outfitted and race programs to grow.  As we enter our 51st racing season we would like to thank all sponsors of Flamboro Speedway racing for their ongoing support.  We will continue to do our part to raise awareness of racing partnerships, and promote your business and services.

Looking for a business service?  You can check out our Partners link for speedway partnerships.  We have also reported race team sponsors and web links with each driver profile, available from the Roster list, under the Competition tab.  And on race night, don't forget to pickup your copy of the Race Night Review - official Souvenir Program of Flamboro Speedway.

We ask you Race Fans, to please help us support the partners who support grassroots racing at your local speedway.
